Mrs. California United States Pageant
How will I be scored?....and other common questions
Competition Requirements for Mrs. California United States:
Judging is based on Personal Interview/On-Stage Question, Evening Gown, and Swimsuit. Just as the national pageant, high and low are not dropped, so the contestant with the overall highest score wins. In the event there is a tie, we will always reference the Interview score.
Panel Interview - This is a 5 minute, sitting down, Panel Style Interview with 5-7 Qualified Judges from across the State. You will need a business style dress suit (no pants please). You may have some rhinestones on your suit, but simple is best. You are being judged on your ability to communicate. This is your opportunity to share your views, your passion, and your platform (if you have one). A BRIEF introduction upon entering the room is fine- no more than 15 seconds. Panel Interview counts as 20% of your total score.
On Stage Question - Each contestant will answer two (2) questions in their opening number dress, during on-stage competition - this is a question about marriage, community, platform and goals. On Stage Question counts as 20% of your total score.
Combined Interview and OnStage Question is 40%.
Swimsuit - You may wear any 1 piece swimsuit of your own choice - no thong/brazilian cuts allowed. Pantyhose optional. You are being judged on your fitness and confidence. High heels also are worn, any height. There are many options, including Jayme Shaw, Lady M, and Venus. A well fitted SS is important. We will also have Swimsuit by the pool Saturday morning/afternoon; this may be any SS of choice (fun, not judged).Swimsuit counts as 30% of your total score.
Gown - This needs to be a full length gown of your choice. You may choose simple or beaded. You are being judged on your grace, elegance, stage presence, beauty of face, poise and sense of style.Evening Gown counts as 30% of your total score.
Opening Number - You are not being judged, but this is an opportunity to show confidence and charisma! This will be a simple RED cocktail type dress, and can be purchased at our sponsor, Crown Diva www.crowndiva.com
